It’s official — the four winners of our 2021 Learn, Try, Win challenge have been announced and all their essays are now published on the PWA site.
The winners are:
- Wendy Howarter, Grand Prize ($500)
- Sheila Koester, Silver Prize ($250)
- EG Orren, Honorable ($125)
- Christine Jackson, Honorable ($125)
From Wendy’s essay, you’ll learn that geography is no longer a real obstacle in becoming a “local” writer, as she showcases in her Landing Local Clients – With A Twist! piece. Sheila’s essay demonstrates both the power of persistence and the willingness to open additional doors for yourself. From EG, you’ll see that small groups can provide big outcomes, while Christine shows us that even as you try everything, the most important unifying factor is yourself, and your commitment to success.
If you’d like to go a bit deeper, you can listen to Wendy’s featured interview with PWA Director Jen Adams. She shared how a surprising connection pointed her toward the virtual networking that has become the cornerstone of her current client boom, and what you can do to grow your own connections no matter where in the world you live. This is an especially good listen if you’ve been frustrated by networking in the past and want to find a new way forward for your business.
And of course … if you’re newer to PWA and missed the original contest, you can still try out the client-getting techniques it teaches. Read the guidelines and activity prompts right here, and do your own version of the Learn, Try, Win challenge to grow your writing career any time you like.
